Gearing up for DrupalCampLA 2008

DrupalCampLA 2008Well, most of you know I live and work in Buenos Aires, but if you scratch me, you’ll see I’m from LA! Drupal Camp in LA! Looking good!

I am actually planning on spending several months a year living and working in Los Angeles too, from time to time, to be able to spend more time with my parents and my brother, so when I saw that Drupal Camp coincided with my upcoming 2-3 month stay in Los Angeles (as well as with my High School reunion in San Diego… oh well, there goes a geeky Saturday night), I just knew that the LA Convention Center parking lot would be home to my Woodie the weekend of September 13-14.

Looks like it’s really going to be a fun time, with lots of great Drupalistas I’m really looking forward to meeting in person, the perennial awesome chocolate testing party, lots of pithy sessions (someone’s even going to talk about Drupal in Python, what could that be about?). And if you are new to Drupal, or want to find out what all the fuss is about, this looks like a great place to do that if you are from anywhere around Southern California.

I’m planning to give three sessions in the Developer track, but I’m gonna get my twin brother to give some of them so I don’t miss out on what look like really interesting stuff going on in the Beginner and Web Design tracks (theming with Zen: cool!! My favorite, want to see what other folks do…). The planning wiki lists all proposed sessions. Not to mention, in the developer track, I don’t want to miss Tom Friedhof’s roundup of Revision Control Systems, or Blake Lucchesi’s talk on Drupal 6 Forms API with AHAH… or a talk by a couple of folks from Work Habit on using Drupal with Amazon Web Services — I hope someone will be filming all this good stuff!

Of couorse, we’d all like to be in Hungary – Szeged to be exact, for Drupal Con – but if we can’t get there, why, let’s hang out in a warm Drupalista setting in some third world country (that’s a compliment, not an insult), like L.A.!
